School Holiday Workshops

NOW BOOKING: Summer Holidays 2017

Once again this summer we are taking over St. Monica’s Parish Centre on Cannon Hill for three full weeks of drama! Each course lasts a week and culminates in a showcase performance on Friday afternoon at 3pm. If you want your child(ren) to take part in the showcase, please make sure you include Friday afternoon in your booking.

Children can attend mornings only, afternoons only or full days. In addition, an extra supervised hour is available at the start and end of the day (no extra hour at the end of the day on Friday). If you prefer not to book for the full week, we offer a daily rate for both half days and full days.

You can now book online for any of our Introductory and Junior Stage summer holiday drama workshops. The online booking form will calculate the price. Within 48 hours of receiving your booking, we will email you back to confirm your place and arrange payment. To enquire about this year’s Senior Stage workshops, please email us.

All students coming to holiday workshops at The Playing Space should wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes that they can easily put on and take off. As well as a packed lunch, a bottle of water is a very good idea.

About Our Holiday Workshops

The Playing Space holiday workshops are hugely popular with children and parents alike. Our feedback forms are filled with words like “inspiring”, “brilliant” and “wonderful”. Parents often tell us that their children have been talking about drama and nothing else. We also frequently hear of children begging their parents to book them into the next half-term or holiday course! Here are just three of the many positive comments we received after our most recent courses:

‘My daughter absolutely loved it. When I talked to her every evening during that week, I could tell how much fun she was having. The organisation was excellent. I will certainly send her to your holiday club again!’

‘Chad is a shy boy, so I was delighted to see him coming out of the club very animated and enthused. He was desperate to return each day, and ever since has frequently asked if he could go to drama rather than school! I would recommend this club to anyone and cannot wait for him to go again. The difference it made to his confidence in just a week was fantastic – but more importantly he thoroughly enjoyed it.’

‘I must congratulate you on the show put on by the children. I came away utterly gobsmacked. The content and overall inventiveness was amazing, and the confidence with which they performed quite astonishing.’

Our drama games, exercises and activities are designed to encourage teamwork and co-operation. Children in our holiday groups, who often come from different schools and backgrounds, soon form strong bonds. They love working, playing and eating together! By the end of the course there is a real sense of exhilaration and camaraderie as the children make preparations for the final show and get ready to share their work with Mum, Dad, baby brother, and whoever else has come along.
