In this seminar we focus on:

1. The Knowledge questions that your Grade 8 Speaking in Public Students will be asked:
• give an evaluation of the effective use of rhetorical questions, variation of tone, inflection, pace and volume in a speech;
• give an explanation of the use of visual aids to enhance a speech;
• give an explanation of the steps taken to prepare and deliver the impromptu speech;
• give an explanation of three styles of speech.
2. How to help your student choose and prepare visual aids, and incorporate these effectively into their speech;
3. Exercises to improve your students deliver their speeches effectively, including use of notecards.

About this Event

This seminar is perfect for LAMDA Teachers who are moving into the Speaking in Public syllabus for the first time, and also experienced teachers who want to increase their confidence in this area. We will focus on three areas:

1. Helping your learners structure their speeches;
2. The conversation element of the Entry, Level 1 and Level 2 Exams;
3. The Knowledge questions:
• Give an explanation of how your speech was prepared.
• Explain the reasons behind the choice of speech.

A seminar focusing on how to effectively teach the LAMDA Grade 8 Acting Exam Knowledge Section.

About this Event

We will focus on these questions:

• Give an explanation of the processes involved in developing the three characters for performance.
• Give a summary of the selected practitioner’s key principles in the process of acting.
• Give a summary of the selected practitioner’s influence on the process of acting.
  (NB We will be using Stanislavski as our practitioner. Depending on time there will be a brief summary of the other practitioners.)

Please note that the other Grade 8 Question (on the character’s role within the context of the play) was covered in the Grade 6 Acting Knowledge Seminar.

The seminar will cover how to prepare model answers for all these questions, and there will also be time to share ideas for processes for developing characters for performance and ask questions.

A seminar focusing on how to effectively teach the LAMDA Grade 7 Acting Exam Knowledge Section.

About this Event

We will focus on this question:

Give an explanation of the writing style, and the period in which the chosen author was writing.

Please note that the other Grade 7 Questions (on character’s objectives and the role within the context of the play) were covered in the Grade 6 Acting Knowledge Seminar.

The first 45 minutes will explore ways of giving detailed answers to the question about writing style and period, including model answers for a variety of plays from all three periods. I will provide a list of questions for your Learners to answer that will point them in the right direction to create their own model answers for their chosen plays.

Attendees will then work on different plays in Breakout Rooms for 15 minutes, followed by a final 30 minute group session in which we share our findings, as well as taking a look at interesting ways of testing knowledge.

There will also be an opportunity for questions.

We will focus on these three questions:

1. Give a summary of the character’s objective in each of the chosen scenes.
2. Give an explanation of the role of each character portrayed, within the context of the play as a whole.
3. Give an explanation of the breathing techniques used to support the voice in each scene performed.
